Nine days through three completely different souths: the noise and river of Saigon and the Mekong, then a flight up to Da Lat's pine forest and cool evenings, then down to Nha Trang for four days of beach and islands. A private driver throughout and the domestic flight included, so no day is lost to transit.
Itinerary - 9 Days 8 Nights
Day 1
Arrive Ho Chi Minh City
A private driver meets you at the airport with your name on a board and takes you to a hotel in the centre. Explore at your own pace, or sleep off the flight.
Day 2 · B, L
Mekong Delta day trip
Collected around 7:15 AM for My Tho on the left bank of the Mekong. A sampan around the four islands - Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, Tortoise - then ashore on Unicorn Island for the orchards, tropical fruit and folk singing. A hand-rowed sampan down the Thoi Son canal, family workshops and a honey-bee farm with honey tea and coconut candy. After lunch, cycle around Tan Thach village, or take the hammock option.

Fly to Da Lat
A transfer to the airport and the short flight up to the highlands. Met at Da Lat airport and taken to a hotel in the centre, with the rest of the day free.

Da Lat
Robin Hill at 1650m for the view over the city, then a 2.3km cable car down to Tuyen Lam Lake and the Truc Lam Zen Monastery, the largest in Vietnam. Bao Dai's Summer Palace, where the last emperor ruled from 1949 to 1954, and the Crazy House. In the afternoon, Da Lat's old railway station and the 7km local train to Trai Mat through the vegetable farms, then Linh Phuoc Pagoda, decorated with tens of thousands of beer bottles and broken china.
Day 5 · B
Da Lat → Nha Trang
A three-hour drive down off the highlands to the coast. Check in, and the rest of the day on the beach in the middle of town.
Day 6 · B, L
Nha Trang Bay islands
To Cau Da port, stopping at the Oceanographic Institute and its collection of Nha Trang Bay marine life. Then out into the bay: Mun Island for the coral and the snorkelling, the caves where sea swallows nest, and swimming or water sports off Mot Island and Tranh Beach. Lunch on the island or at Con Se Tre village, with a fishing village stop on the way back.

8: Nha Trang at leisure
Two free days. Islands, city sights, water sports, a mud spa, or nothing at all.

Departure
Breakfast, check-out, time for the markets, then the transfer to the airport.
