Good questions about this tour
Isn't Topas Ecolodge inconveniently far from Sapa town?
It's about 18km south of Sapa on a granite ridge, which is exactly what makes it special - 360-degree valley views, an infinity pool over the terraces, and real quiet. The trade-off is limited phone signal and you're not walking into town for dinner, but meals are included at the lodge. We can add a Sapa-town night if you'd like both.
Is the 10km trek on Day 2 too tough for a family?
The Muong Hoa trek is around 10km over 3-4 hours, mostly downhill from town and then along the valley floor - moderate but not technical. The guide adjusts the pace and can shorten it, and there's a car pickup option from Ta Van if anyone would rather not walk the whole way.
