The island-to-mainland direction, taken slowly. Ferry off Phu Quoc at dawn, board a river boat at Tra On, and spend the rest of the day drifting past orchards and rice paddies with a night moored near Cai Be. The second morning is spent in a sampan threading the narrow canals of Tan Phong islet before the road back to Saigon.
Itinerary - 2 Days 1 Night
Day 1
Phu Quoc → Tra On → Cai Be (L, D) - ~12h
Early departure from your Phu Quoc hotel and ferry to Rach Gia, then the drive to Tra On to board. Lunch onboard with the water opening out around you. Ashore for a guided walk through a village and its orchards and rice paddies, then back for refreshments and sunset from the top deck. Night moored near Cai Be.
Day 2
Cai Be → Tan Phong Islet → Saigon (B, L) - ~9h
Morning tea on deck, check out, and into a sampan for the narrow canals of Tan Phong islet, stopping at a family coconut-candy workshop. Then a choice: cycle the back roads or walk a village along the canals. Lunch at Mekong Rest Stop and on to Saigon.
