Three days going properly into the delta rather than skimming it: two nights sleeping on the river, one with a family in a guesthouse and one at a small ecolodge. Sampan through the Ben Tre canals, bicycles through a brick-and-pottery village, and the Cai Rang floating market at sunrise on the way back to Saigon.
Itinerary - 3 Days 2 Nights
Day 1 · L, D
Ho Chi Minh City → Ben Tre → Cai Thia
Early start and a 2.5-hour drive south into the delta. Two of its main pockets in one day: Ben Tre and Cai Thia, seen from a traditional sampan and then by bicycle along the waterways. The evening is spent with the family at the guesthouse, cooking spring rolls and banh xeo together, followed by a lantern-lit performance by villagers.
Day 2 · B, L, D
Riverside market → Pottery Brick Village → Can Tho
After breakfast, the community riverside market, then a boat to the Pottery Brick Village - the "Red Kingdom" - explored by bicycle. Drive on to Can Tho with a free afternoon: birdwatching, or just the town at your own pace.
Day 3 · B
Cai Rang Floating Market → Ho Chi Minh City
Sunrise over Cai Rang, the delta's biggest wholesale floating market, explored by boat and on foot. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, where the tour ends.
