Three days working through Saigon and the delta, then a flight north and four days on My Khe Beach with nothing scheduled. The structured half is genuinely structured - the war history properly guided, a full day in Ben Tre with a lunch cooked by a local family - and the loose half is loose by design, with Hoi An and the Marble Mountains close enough to reach on a whim.
Itinerary - 9 Days 8 Nights
Day 1
Arrive Ho Chi Minh City
Met at Tan Son Nhat International Airport and transferred to the hotel, check-in from 2 PM. The first evening is free.
Day 2 · B
Exploring Ho Chi Minh City
A guided day through Saigon's history. The Reunification Palace, former residence of the President of South Vietnam and the site of the city's fall in 1975. Then the War Remnants Museum, opened in September 1975, with photographs, documents and artefacts alongside the planes, tanks and helicopters outside. Finally Notre-Dame Cathedral, built 1877-1883 with materials shipped from France - currently under renovation, so viewed from outside.

Mekong Delta day trip
South to Ben Tre for a full day among the waterways and cottage industries. A river boat to a traditional brick factory where clay is still moulded and fired the old way, a coconut processing workshop, and a family business where women weave sleeping mats. Fresh fruit and tea with the locals. Then a xe loi motor cart along shaded roads past rice fields and vegetable plots, and a home-cooked lunch with a family in Ben Tre. A row boat along palm-lined creeks before the drive back to Saigon.

Ho Chi Minh City → Da Nang
Transfer to the airport for the included flight north, and on arrival, straight to the hotel near My Khe Beach.

8: Da Nang & My Khe Beach at leisure
Four open days. My Khe itself is a long stretch of soft white sand with seafood restaurants behind it. Within reach: the Marble Mountains and their caves, pagodas and viewpoints; the Cham Sculpture Museum; the riverside promenade and the Dragon Bridge breathing fire at weekends; Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge; and Hoi An, forty-five minutes away.

Departure
Breakfast, check-out and transfer to Da Nang International Airport.
