Down the coast from Hoi An to Saigon on sleeper trains, with a stop in Qui Nhon that almost nobody makes. Ky Co beach, the basalt columns of Ganh Da Dia, mud baths in Nha Trang, and a noodle-making class in a training school for disadvantaged young people. Hostels, a group of twelve at most, and a karaoke night to finish.
Itinerary - 7 Days 6 Nights
Day 1 · D
Hoi An
Arrive whenever suits. Kick back at the hostel or explore before meeting the group in the evening for a welcome dinner in the old town - nem ran, goi du du bo kho, cao lau, whichever you are brave enough to order.
Day 2 · B, L
Hoi An → overnight train
A cooking class at the Oodles of Noodles training school, eating what you make for lunch. The afternoon is yours: get fitted for a suit, learn lantern-making, or take a stool at a riverside bar. In the evening, board the sleeper south.
Day 3 · B, D
Qui Nhon
Off the train and straight to Thap Doi to walk around the Cham temple towers. Breakfast at Eo Gio with a walk along the coastline, then the afternoon at Ky Co - white sand, clear water, and very few people. Dinner at one of Qui Nhon's seafood restaurants: bun thit nuong, banh xeo, banh beo chen.
Day 4 · B
Qui Nhon → Nha Trang
A long drive with a very good stop: Ganh Da Dia, Vietnam's answer to the Giant's Causeway, all hexagonal basalt columns. Then the mud and mineral baths at Nha Trang. The evening is open, and your group leader knows which beach bars are worth it.
Day 5 · B
Nha Trang → overnight train
The day is yours on Nha Trang's beaches - the promenade, the waterpark, or a snorkelling boat trip. Back on the sleeper that night for the run to Saigon.
Day 6 · B
Ho Chi Minh City
A walking tour through Ben Thanh Market, the Reunification Palace and the French quarter, with pho for breakfast. The afternoon is free - a cyclo, a scooter tour, or the Cu Chi tunnels. The night ends in one of the city's karaoke bars.
Day 7 · B
Ho Chi Minh City
Depart at any time.
